Ubuntu features a graphical user interface (\gls{GUI}) based on the open source \acronym{GNOME} desktop. As we explained in \chaplink{ch:the-ubuntu-desktop}, a ``user interface'' is a collection of software elements \dash icons, colors, windows, themes, and menus \dash that determines how someone may interact with a computer.
