To put your computer into a power-saving mode until you resume using it, choose <menuchoice><guimenu>Applications</guimenu><guisubmenu>Quit</guisubmenu><guimenuitem>Shut Down</guimenuitem></menuchoice>, then <guilabel>Suspend</guilabel> or <guilabel>Hibernate</guilabel>. (<guilabel>Hibernate</guilabel> requires no power at all, but is slower, and is not available on some types of computer.)
