When joining an Ubuntu Desktop workstation to a domain, you may need to edit <filename>/etc/nsswitch.conf</filename> if your AD domain uses the <emphasis role="italic">.local</emphasis> syntax. In order to join the domain the <emphasis>"mdns4"</emphasis> entry from the <emphasis>hosts</emphasis> option. For example:
