Linux is an operating system kernel that resembles the Unix operating system. The kernel is the main software required for free operating systems such as Kubuntu. Linux has come to define the worldwide movement to embrace free and open source software. GNU/Linux is another way in which many refer to the Linux kernel. The GNU/Linux term was created by the <ulink url="http://www.fsf.org">Free Software Foundation</ulink> since the Linux kernel was created with the many components from the <ulink url="http://www.gnu.org">GNU Project</ulink>.
Linux は Unix オペレーションシステム類似のオペレーティングシステムカーネルです。カーネルは Kubuntu フリーオペレーティングシステムで必要とされる中心となるソフトウェアです。Linux はフリーでオープンソースのソフトウェアを含む世界中に広まった運動の意味を明らかにするまでになりました。GNU/Linux は Linux カーネルを呼ぶもう一つの方法です。<ulink url="http://www.gnu.org">GNU Project</ulink> の多くの成果物を使用して作られているので <ulink url="http://www.fsf.org">Free Software Foundation</ulink> によってGNU/Linux という用語が作られました。
