Switching a framework to be inactive is useful if a new version of the framework is issued and those who haven't already started under the old framework should use the new one.

Mahara comes with `Video.js <http://videojs.com/>`_, a :index:`media player <HTML5 media player>` that can play a number of media files and does not require Flash (though it does have a Flash fallback option). Other video file types can be enabled, but users must have the appropriate software installed on their computers and the respective plugins enabled in their browsers to play them.

**Institution value to check against attribute**: Enter the value that will be checked against the institution attribute value as passed from the IdP. If the institution regex switch "Do partial string match with institution shortname" is set to "Yes", this value can be a `regular expression <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regular_expression>`_ that will be used to check against the institution attribute value. This field is required.

**reCAPTCHA on user registration form**: If set to "Yes", :index:`people who register themselves on the site <single: Security settings; reCAPTCHA>` are required to fill in a `reCAPTCHA <http://recaptcha.org/>`_ test. This is a spam protection instrument.

**Account expires**: Tick the checkbox if you want to specify an account expiration date. Once done, the date picker is activated for you to enter a date. Choose the date on which the user's login will be disabled automatically.

Use the XML-RPC authentication for connecting a Mahara instance to a Moodle or an other Mahara installation for sharing login information. With Moodle 2 that does not only mean that you can log in to Mahara via Moodle, but also that you can `transfer certain activities into your Mahara portfolio from Moodle <http://docs.moodle.org/20/en/Portfolios>`_.

The regular Mahara search is limited to finding users and in certain places titles, descriptions and tags of pages or collections. However, Mahara can be extended to use allow for fulltext search capabilities. The Mahara core project team chose to use `Elasticsearch <http://www.elasticsearch.org/>`_. This is a powerful and extensible fulltext search engine. It does require a Java server, e.g. Tomcat, to run and thus may not be available for small instances of Mahara.

**Spamhaus URL blacklist**: If set to "Yes", URLs will be checked against the Spamhaus DNSBL. The `Spamhaus Project <http://www.spamhaus.org>`_ provides a URL blacklist that is free for non-commercial, low-traffic use. A professional use datafeed service is also available but not supported in Mahara. Please read the `Spamhaus DNSBL usage terms <http://www.spamhaus.org/organization/dnsblusage.html>`_ before enabling this option.
