The user interface differs from other netbook environments. Each application category is displayed along with a blank area just below the Panel. To change the layout of the interface or to move Widgets, there is a small tab in the top right-hand area of the display. Clicking on this tab brings up a menu, which allows changes and also unlocks the Widget locations.

There is a yellow star in the upper left corner of application icons. Clicking the star icon marks the application as a Favorite. This causes the application icon to appear in the previously blank area just below the Panel, creating a Favorites menu. When there are more Favorites than can fit on the menu, the menu can be scrolled by clicking on the triangle-shaped arrows on each side.

The Desktop Switching Widget mentioned previously makes it possible to select the Newspaper desktop environment. Newspaper is a plain desktop with a handful of Widgets. All Widgets are optional. There are plenty of Widgets available for use currently and more being written by the community (www.kde-look.org).

At this time, the Widgets are not yet resizable, so they appear in two columns. As Widgets are added, a scroll bar appears on the right side of the desktop so that all installed Widgets can be viewed.

To move Widgets, go to the Newspaper desktop environment and click the Newspaper tab on the right side of the screen. The screen goes a bit darker as if there was a shadow across it. As the mouse is moved around the screen, each Widget is highlighted as the cursor moves over it. Click and drag the widget to the desired location.

Um Miniprogramme zu bewegen gehen Sie zur Tageszeitungs-Arbeitsfläche und klicken Sie auf den Tageszeitungs-Reiter auf der rechten Seite des Bildschirms. Selbiger wird daraufhin etwas dunkler, wie wenn ein Schatten darauf fällt. Wird die Maus über den Bildschirm bewegt, dann wird jedes Miniprogramm hervorgehoben. Klicken Sie auf das Miniprogramm und bewegen Sie es zur gewünschten Position.

Clicking on the Newspaper tab takes the desktop back to normal mode, and the screen will brighten back up. If the screen seems to be stuck in "edit mode", click on the Newspaper tab and the working desktop will return.

To add a Widget, click the Newspaper tab, and then "Add Widgets...". Widgets can then be added from the list shown. Clicking on "Add New Widgets" brings up a menu that offers the choices "Install Widget From Local File" or "Download New Plasma Widgets".
