Apport intercepts program crashes, collects debugging information about the crash and the operating system environment, and sends it to bug trackers in a standardized form. It also offers the user to report a bug about a package, with again collecting as much information about it as possible.

Apport fängt Programmabstürze ab, sammelt Informationen über den Absturz und die Betriebssystemsumgebung zur Fehlerbehebung und sendet diese in einer standardisierten Form an das Fehlerverfolgungssystem. Es bietet dem Nutzer außerdem die Möglichkeit einen Fehler in einem Paket zu melden, wozu es wiederum so viele Informationen wie möglich darüber sammelt.
