An <abbrev>ISO</abbrev> image is an archive file that is formatted to be used with <abbrev>CD</abbrev>s or <abbrev>DVD</abbrev>s. <trademark>Kubuntu</trademark> is easily acquired as an <abbrev>ISO</abbrev> file and then burned to either a <abbrev>CD</abbrev>, a <abbrev>DVD</abbrev>, or written to a <abbrev>USB</abbrev> flash drive in a bootable format.
