Saving an image uses XCF, GIMP's native file format (file extension <tt>.xcf</tt>). This preserves the layers and many aspects of your work-in-progress, allowing to work on it again later. Once a project is completed, you can export it as JPEG, PNG, GIF, etc.
Al guardar una imagen se utiliza XCF, el formato de archivo nativo de GIMP (con extensión de archivo <tt>.xcf</tt>). Este formato preserva las capas y varios aspectos de su trabajo en curso, lo que permite trabajar en él de nuevo más tarde. Una vez que su proyecto esté terminado puede exportarlo como JPEG, PNG, GIF, etc.
