<h3>Spammer probation status</h3>
<p>This setting controls whether the user is considered to be on probation as a possible spammer. Newly self-registered users start out with a certain number of "probation points" on their account. While they have any probation points, they are considered a probationary user and cannot create public pages in their portfolio or post links or images to potentially public content such as comments, wall posts, or forum posts.</p>
<p>Each time a probationary user makes a post in a forum, and the post is replied to by a non-probationary user, the probationary user loses one probation point. When the number of points reaches zero, they are no longer on probation.</p>
<p>Probation points have no effect on users who have staff or administrator status.</p>

for <strong>this institution</strong>. If users can choose their own
theme on the site, the settings on these will determine if users see a
drop-down menu or tabs.</p>

<p>Site-wide themes take on the <strong>site settings</strong>, and if
a user can choose <strong>another institution theme</strong>, the settings there decide whether the
navigation happens via a drop-down menu or tabs.</p>

<h3>Generate sitemap</h3>
<p>Tick this box to generate a machine-readable sitemap of all the publicly accessible pages in your Mahara site, suitable for submitting to search engines.</p>
<p>The sitemap is a series of XML files in the <a href="http://www.sitemaps.org/">sitemaps.org</a> format. The sitemap "index" is at the URL <tt>[yoursite]/download.php?type=sitemap</tt>. It lists a series of daily sitemap snapshots, which contain only those pages that have changed in the past day.</p>

<h3>reCAPTCHA on register form</h3>
<p>If checked, users self-registering a new account will have to prove themselves human by passing a reCAPTCHA test.
This should prevent spam accounts from being created by an automated script.</p>
<p>In order for this feature to work, you will also need to provide a reCAPTCHA public and private key. You can obtain these from the reCAPTCHA
website, <a href="http://recaptcha.org">http://recaptcha.org</a>.</p>

<h3>Create a custom layout</h3>
<p>You can add a new custom page layout made up of multiple rows with your own choice of column arrangements.</p>
<p>Click the button "Add row" to add a new row, and use the drop-down boxes to choose a column arrangment for that row.
The thumbnail image gives you a preview of your new layout.</p>
<p>Once you are happy with your design, click the "Create new layout" button to add the new layout.
Your custom layout will be created and selected. Click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page to save your choice of layout for this page.</p>
<p>Your new layout will be available to you in the future under "Advanced options" when you are editing your page layout.</p>

<p>Some built-in pages of your site may be edited dynamically by a site or institution administrator.
If you wish to customise the content of a built-in page (About, Home, Logged-out home, Privacy statement, Terms and conditions
from the default text, select the page you wish to modify and edit it using the editor. Ensure you save your changes before
loading another page or exiting the static pages area.</p>
<p>Changes you make here will be reflected in the page content viewed by members of your institution. They will not
be shown to members of other institutions.</p>
<p>If you tick "Use site default" for a specific page, then your institution members will see the site default version
of that page rather than your institution's custom version.</p>

<h3>Elasticsearch analyzer</h3>

<p>The Elasticsearch analyzer performs the analysis process of the search database.</p>
<p>The Maraha system uses the built-in <strong>mahara_analyzer</strong>.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.elasticsearch.org/guide/reference/index-modules/analysis/custom-analyzer/">Read the Elasticsearch instructions</a> if you wish to use a different analyzer.</p>
<p>This setting cannot be changed through the web interface. You may change it by setting a value in your config.php file for the following config variable:</p>
<p><code>$cfg->plugin->search->elasticsearch->analyzer</code>.</p>
<p>It is recommended that you don't change the default "mahara_analyzer"
unless you know what you are doing.</p>
