<h3>Group Type</h3> <p>You can choose from a number of options which determine how other users may join your group.</p> <h6>Open Membership</h6> <p>Setting your group type to Open Membership will allow any user of the site to become a member simply by visiting your group page and clicking the join button.</p> <h6>Request Membership</h6> <p>Setting your group type to Request Membership means that any user can request to join your Group, however as owner you can choose to accept or decline this request. The requesting member will be automatically notified of your decision.</p> <h6>Invite Only</h6> <p>Setting your group type to Invite Only means that only users that you have sent an invite to may join your group.</p> <h6>Controlled Membership</h6> <p>Controlled Membership is only available to Administrators and Staff, and allows you to add and remove people from a group directly.</p> <p>Users cannot remove themselves from a controlled group.</p> <h4>Course Groups</h4> <p>Course groups are a special type of group which can only be created by Administrators and Staff of the site.</p> <p>Course groups can contain tutors as well as ordinary members. All members of course groups can submit their pages to the group for assessment by tutors. When tutors give feedback on a submitted page, they can also attach a file to the feedback which is only visible to the page's author.</p> <p>There are two types of Course groups:</p> <h6>Course: Request Membership</h6> <p>Users may join the group by requesting membership, described under the Request Membership heading above.</p> <h6>Course: Controlled Membership</h6> <p>Controlled Membership Course groups allow group administrators to add and remove people from the group directly. Tutors can only add people to the group directly.</p> <p>This is designed to be used for a course-based group where the membership is defined by an external system (such as an institution's enrolment system) and you wish to replicate that membership in the group.</p> <p>Users cannot remove themselves from a controlled group.</p>

<h3>Tags</h3> <p>You can add tags to artefacts and pages you create. Tags allow you to add descriptive labels to artefacts and pages and create an index of tag classifications.</p> <p>To associate multiple tags to an artefact or page, separate each tag entry with a comma. For example – ‘Assessment, Semester 2, Management’.</p> <p>Clicking on <b>Show my tags</b> will generate a list of those tags you have previously used within your portfolio and the number of times they have been entered. Clicking on an existing tag will add it to the tag list for the artefact or page you are currently creating or editing.</p>

If set to yes, users belonging to this institution will be able to create portfolio pages that are accessible to the public rather than only to logged-in users

<h3>Registration</h3> <p>If your ePortfolio account is not created by your institution, you will need to register yourself. In this case, complete and submit this registration form. An email will be sent to your address. This will contain a clickable link – follow this to confirm your account and log in to the system. If you do not receive this email within 24 hours, please check your email junk filter. If you have any problems registering, please contact the site administrator.</p> <p><strong>Note:</strong> The email link is only valid for 24 hours. After this you must repeat the process.</p> <p>You will then be prompted to complete any mandatory profile fields, and have the opportunity to upload a profile picture. Once registered, you will need to enter your username and password (and possibly your institution) in order to log in to your portfolio.</p> <p><strong>Note:</strong> This site requires a current web browser, such as Internet Explorer version 7.0 or higher or any recent version of Firefox, Safari, or Chrome. You must have cookies enabled.</p>

If enabled, users will be allowed to select a theme when editing or creating a portfolio page. The page will be displayed to other users using the selected theme.

<h3>Files</h3> <p>Your files area is a repository for folders and files to use within your portfolio.</p> <p>The number of files you may upload into your files area is dependant on your file storage limit which is displayed in the quota box in the sidebar.</p> <p>You can select several files at once for upload in the file dialogue box.</p> <p>You can use drag-and-drop to organise your files and folders. Click on the folder or file icons and drag and drop them to the new location.</p> <p>For security reasons, your site administrator may restrict some file types from being uploaded.</p>

You will be warned of an upcoming account expiry and told how to save your portfolio.</p> <p><strong>Note:</strong> It is important to save each new entry using the button at the foot of the page.</p>
