This substantially improves the functional coverage for the fuzzed code. The compact synthesized corpora produced by the tool are also useful for seeding other, more labor- or resource-intensive testing regimes down the road.

American Fuzzy Lop ist ein Fuzzer, der Instrumente zur Kompilierzeit und genetische Algorithmen einsetzt, um automatisch saubere, interessante Testfälle zu entdecken, die neue interne Zustände in der Zielbinärdatei auslösen. Dadurch wird die funktionale Abdeckung für den Fuzzy-Code erheblich verbessert. Die kompakten, synthetisierten Korpora, die von dem Tool erzeugt werden, sind auch nützlich, um später andere, arbeits- oder ressourcenintensivere Testregime zu entwickeln.
