ACPID is a completely flexible, totally extensible daemon for delivering ACPI events. It listens on netlink interface (or on the deprecated file /proc/acpi/event), and when an event occurs, executes programs to handle the event. The programs it executes are configured through a set of configuration files, which can be dropped into place by packages or by the admin.

L'ACPID és un dimoni completament flexible i totalment extensible per al lliurament d'esdeveniments ACPI. Escolta a la interfície de l'enllaç de xarxa (o al fitxer obsolet /proc/acpi/event), i quan es produeix un esdeveniment, executa programes per manegar l'esdeveniment. Els programes que executa es configuren a través d'un conjunt de fitxers de configuració, que poden posar-se al lloc adequat pels paquets o per l'administrador.
