In short, it is a historically-based war/economy game that allows players to relive or rewrite the history of Western civilizations, focusing on the years between 500 B.C. and 500 A.D. 0 A.D. (udtalt »zero ey-dee«) er et frit, open source krigsspil for flere platforme. Det er et realtids strategispil (RTS). Kort fortalt så er det et historisk krigs/økonomi-spil, som giver spillerne mulighed for at genopleve eller omskrive den vestlige civilisation med fokus på årene mellem 500 f.Kr. og 500 e.Kr. Projektet er meget ambitiøst, med den nyeste detaljerede 3D-grafik, lyde og en fleksibel men funktionsrig og tilpasset spilmotor.
