Please choose another option or permit user write access to the folder /usr/share/images/xsplash and all the files it contains. You may as well do this by running the following command in a terminal window:
sudo chmod -R a+rw /usr/share/images/xsplash

Grant all users write access to the xsplash image folder (/usr/share/images/xsplash). <b>Note that this is a system folder, so this might be considered as a violation of system security.</b> Though as this folder solely consists of image files used by the xsplash screen, this does not open any serious security holes. Generally this should be save on a private single user system. Regardless of the security consideration the "Use Desktop Background" option is not recommended for multi user systems. <i>If in doubt, please consult the project homepage.</i>
