Enable UPnP on your router

This assistant can automatically configure routers that support Universal Plug and Play (“UPnP”). You can probably enable UPnP support on your router through a web browser, but you will need to consult your router's manual for instructions. To open your router's configuration page in a web browser, click here:

Forward remote connections from another computer

If you know how to connect to another computer using SSH, you can forward connections from that computer to yours by doing:

If you choose this option, you should tell the other person the name or IP address of the computer you logged in to.

Reverse the session

To reverse the session, both you and the other person should click on <i>Use a reverse connection</i> in Advanced settings. Remote help will then try to connect from your computer to theirs, instead of the other way around.

It's quite likely that your friend is also behind a NAT firewall, so you should only try this if you're prepared to talk them through configuring their wireless router.
