All menus have to be suited to one business application. Each user must see all menus linked to their job. They should perform their workload in one menu only. This is the goal of all the applications. The user should be able to navigate through all his workflow from a single menu to make his work easier, faster and user friendly.
Todos os menus têm de ser adequados para uma aplicação de negócio. Cada usuário deve ver todos os menus relacionados com o seu trabalho. Eles devem realizar sua carga de trabalho em um menu só. Este é o objetivo de todas as aplicações. The complexity of an ERP is usually due to the high number of available features. Most of the users of the system use only a few features, according to their job position(s) in the company. In order to remain easy to use, the different features are split into business applications.

The main idea is that a user is often working in a particular context (working on a project, recording accounting entries). When he is in such a context, he should directly see all features related to this context (=business application). We try to create business applications according to user's position in the company: salesman, project user, purchasers, accountant, etc.

OpenERP distinguishes between modules and applications. A module is a set of features packaged together for technical reasons. A business application includes all the features coming from different modules and creates a menu structure according to a specific role in the company. An application is usually composed of a set of modules.
OpenERP faz uma distinção entre os módulos e aplicações. Um módulo é um conjunto de recursos empacotados juntos por motivos técnicos. A aplicação de negócio inclui todos os recursos que vêm de diferentes módulos e cria uma estrutura de menu de acordo com a função específica na empresa.
