Be careful when changing a matrix file and make sure not to remove any commas, quotation marks, brackets, curly braces or any other marks in sections that you use. They are required for the correct interpretation of the file.

**institution**: The shortname of the institution in which the framework should be used is entered here. If the framework is for all institutions, **all** is placed here.

You can upload a SmartEvidence framework by clicking the *Add framework* button.

If your assessment statuses use different language, then that is reflected in the choices.

Download framework files

If you click the *Save* button to rotate the public key, double check that it was changed by checking the expiry date and also the last few characters of the public key.

The easiest to get started with a SmartEvidence framework is to `download an existing one <https://seafile.catalyst.net.nz/d/c5a4876b06>`_. You can then make any number of changes.

**Delete small logo**: If you want to delete this logo, switch to "Yes" and click the *Submit* button at the bottom of the page.

Add a framework

There is a special logo that can be picked up by Facebook in order not to display a random image from the site. This logo must be placed into the theme folder. Mahara's *Raw theme* has the Mahara logo, but it could be changed to a different one in another theme. For more information see the `tracker item <https://bugs.launchpad.net/mahara/+bug/900529>`_.

**Allow group categories**: If allowed, site administrators can create categories for users to assign to their groups. These categories can be used to filter groups in :ref:`My groups <my_groups>` and :ref:`Find groups <find_groups>`.

Work with a framework

The institution shortname can be seen by hovering over the institution name on the :ref:`Institution overview page <site_admin_institutions>` and looking at the end of the URL. The last parameter is the institution shortname.

Once you finished the file, you can :ref:`upload it <smartevidence_add>` into Mahara and start using it.

Click the *Save* button to make your changes or to rotate the key manually.

Click the *Add framework* button to upload a new SmartEvidence framework.

**Active** A green checkmark |tick| indicates when a framework can be used by people on the site.

The implementation of SmartEvidence is **experimental**. While the majority of the functionality works as intended there are a few areas that still need to be sorted out, .e.g. the export of the SmartEvidence map in both HTML and Leap2A.

You can use any text editor to create and edit your SmartEvidence framework files. If you have an edit that supports syntaxhighlighting for JSON files, you have an advantage as you can differentiate text that you can change from prompts that Mahara needs to interpret the file more easily.

Administration

The administration in Mahara is reserved for site and institution administrators. Configuration settings and functionalities that are only available to site administrators with full privileges are marked as such.
